Hi, as above which are the best make of tyres for good grip especially in the wet? Nankang jobbies? Or the Falken FK07?

Yes really like the Yokohama pattern, but they don’t do 70 series in it.

For a good in the wet tyre you only have the option of the Blockley or a Yokohama GT Special unless you want to pay £166 a tyre for the Dunlop Aquajets that are great in the wet and not so great in the dry.

Forget the nasty Falkens and the better but still a bit lethal in the wet Marshals.

I`ve driven the last 19 winters on 10" tyres and the Falkens were by far the worst, even Camacs were a lot better and they were shaped like fifty pence pieces

I`m now using Blockley and when they wear out I`ll be buying them again, nice tyres.

Why do you want a 70 series?
145/80 is the usual for the Mini

If you want 70% aspect ratio in 10 inch diameter tyres you H A V E to use 165mm tread width!

I'm on the Yokohama GT Classics and have put around 8k on them so far. I'm not particularly keen on them in the wet, mind you, my geometry is well out of whack at the front, so that probably doesn't help.

I'm going to the try the Nankang as they're cheap and my local tyre place can obtain and fit them without any fuss.

Ideally, I want to try the Blockleys but that'll have to wait until I switch the whole car over to 165s I think.
