Hi, as above which are the best make of tyres for good grip especially in the wet? Nankang jobbies? Or the Falken FK07?

Don’t forget about the Yoky, decent and a nice looking tyre for a similar price to the Blockley.

For a good in the wet tyre you only have the option of the Blockley or a Yokohama GT Special unless you want to pay £166 a tyre for the Dunlop Aquajets that are great in the wet and not so great in the dry.
Forget the nasty Falkens and the better but still a bit lethal in the wet Marshals.
I`ve driven the last 19 winters on 10" tyres and the Falkens were by far the worst, even Camacs were a lot better and they were shaped like fifty pence pieces
I`m now using Blockley and when they wear out I`ll be buying them again, nice tyres.

If you want 70% aspect ratio in 10 inch diameter tyres you H A V E to use 165mm tread width!

New one on me, nice to see some 145s, sensible price as well.Pete wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 10:53 pm Don’t forget about the Yoky, decent and a nice looking tyre for a similar price to the Blockley.

I have always preferred the handling of road mini on 145s

Re: 145/70-10 tyres
I'm on the Yokohama GT Classics and have put around 8k on them so far. I'm not particularly keen on them in the wet, mind you, my geometry is well out of whack at the front, so that probably doesn't help.
I'm going to the try the Nankang as they're cheap and my local tyre place can obtain and fit them without any fuss.
Ideally, I want to try the Blockleys but that'll have to wait until I switch the whole car over to 165s I think.

Re: 145/70-10 tyres
Just my opinion the 165 Blockley has a soft sidewall & i needed to up the tyre pressure 32front /28 rear to get sensible road-holding .. not so with the 145 Blockley the sidewall is stiffer & does not have the same issue when fitted on my Moke .
Now need some Snow to try them out.

Re: 145/70-10 tyres
An interesting comment as 145/80 works with 10" wheels but does not with 12" as I discovered when I fitted the regulation Colway remould tyres to compete in the Lombard Revival Rally in an Mpi. Like slippery slicks on the tarmac forest roads in Wales where the pine trees had shed leaves; ice.

Interesting observation, anyone else care to share their thoughts on the Yoko GTs in the wet?
