Tap, Heater Control Valve---Serviceable????????????????
My car (Jan 62 Estate model) has the original heater tap control valve and I cannot rotate the lever. Is this part serviceable? Any idea on how I can free up the lever so that it will rotate?

Janitol Altrans is far more effective than coke.
It is quite a strong acid though, so care is needed!.
I use it diluted to clean up corroded electrical terminals and the like. Very effective, but it will dissolve alloy parts!.

HI these valves are very easily repaired ,I have just recently overhauled mine, remove split pin and washer and spring remove lever
then carefully knock out centre barrel (remember that it is tapered and will only go one way) clean all items and rebuild
simple, try and save the brass split pin for re-use

...unless the rubber diaphragm is split, then you should buy another one, or a similar one and transfer the diaphragm. Unless - and this has happened to me a couple of times!- that the inner alloy ring on the base, inside, has disintegrated...
