Agreed. A much cheaper and easier solution, and doesn't require a huge hole being cut in the body!Alex wrote:I know everyone is different, but having done BIG miles across Europe and the States in an assortment of vehicles, I would suggest that the larger LH tank is more than adequate for all but endurance racing distances.
At a nominal 35mpg, by the time you need to fill up with fuel you've been travelling for ~3 hours and at least one member of the car will usually need a wee or just want to stretch their legs, which is a good thing for the driver to do anyway.
Time rather than distance is usually the precurser to a stop, and even in a twin-tanked S I found that same rule applied, so we just topped the tanks off because we'd stopped rather than because we needed fuel.
I did the same. It was the only way to get to the halfway fuel stop on a Motoring News event in my 997. I put the spare inside the car and fitted a 110ah battery.olddave wrote:I ran a Mini in the 70's with a 10gall Morris Oxford tank.
Fairly easy fit (bolted up on the seat back) but need to juggle around boot items.
A couple of pics of one I've got now but not going to fit. I'm just over the border.
