Rear Subframe to heel board threads

Post by AndyPen »

Did these always stay the same? Mine were welded in 30 years ago and the bolts I have have feel a little too reluctant to my mind.

But were they all the same, as I can chase the threads with a tap and try again?? What size (s) please folks???

Indeed they should be 5/16 UNF, but we often find an 8mm bolt (or even worse studding) rammed in there !

Mine had been replaced with M8 threads. Had to spend quite some time finding some 12.9 rated m8 bolts!
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!

Its new metal put in a long time back so I'll try the M8 just to see, but hope that they were the genuine BMC ones as that's what I was led to believe back then ;-)

Thanks for all the info folks ;-)

Worth trying m8 as at some point I think all repair panels were metric...
