Anyone know the code for speedo housing switch?
On each side of my Austin deluxe speedo housing there is a small black smiths toggle switch at about 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock position, near the back.
One of mine is missing, the other is removed and appears to be a simple make or break two position switch.
Can anyone please tell me
1) what is each for, and are they both just on/off switches?
2) are they available, or is there a code for them so I can search?
Thanks

Re: Anyone know the code for speedo housing switch?
The correct switches are very difficult to find, having a short square lever. But any small toggle switch with spade terminals will do.
One switches the instrument lights on and off (with the side lights).
The other switches the parcel shelf lights that shine through the clear-ish round windows in the binnacle. The bulbs and bulb holders are fitted to the speedo case.

Thanks,
these are on eBay, but are different to mine, which has a small square angular type toggle like you said.
What are these ones from?

The only code I can find is 5L31, but that seems to be rounded.

The same switch is used on some of the ado16 models which helps widen the search. Post in the wanted section, someone always has these somewhere.

It depends on the year of the car, 59/60 models had them with the square toggle, later ones were rounded off

Thanks everyone.
The remaining one is as per the photo so I'll try and match it.
Cheers

It's worth contacting Tim at Minimail and Nick at Min-E-Bitz for stuff like this. They are both forum members but are busy and might not have time to respond to all wanted posts. These aren't cheap though, when I was looking a few years ago they were upwards of £50.

These two types of switches are difficult to find and expensive.
The 5L31 is same as MK1 Companion Box Lamps switch.
