Entry was still open Mark, but the booking system had crashed. I did check with Jackie. Once it was fixed it closed!

No biggy, it was very last minute.

just rolled the cooper out of the garage for a spit and polish to take the daughter to the prom on Friday night and “kerchunk” from the inner bowels of the gearbox?
Eh? Tried to engage gear and it whent backwards then would go forward and then stop after 3 ft as the gearbox locked up...so goes (rolls) backwards and rolls forward a few feet and locks up. Gearbox fucked.
Brilliant  . Was really looking forward to Barbon and haven’t got the time to pull it apart for then. I have been thrashing the bejayzus out of the car virtually every night for the last couple of weeks on the local moorland roads, but I can’t beleive that I drove it in the garage and it broke when I rolled it out? I suppose I might be lucky in that respect.
Still effin gutted though.
my S once locked up ...pulled engine and found starter ring had half come off locking it up :? worth a check

Hmm.good advice but the Engine starts and runs fine and you can select reverse and the car will go back a few feet. No drive in any forward gears but if you push it forward it will roll a few feet then lock up solid. It basically will push backwards and forwards for one complete revolution of the wheel and locks solid.

Might see if I can get the 970 ready for Saturday, not many days at Barbon when the sun shines.

Quiafe ATB.
Just wondering if its sheared a bolt on the crown wheel. There’s not a lot of space between the straight cut crown wheel and the diff housing, it took a lot of machining out the casting to get it to fit.

or a bolt has wound out, its odd that's its doing almost a rotation, but a bolt might be making its way 'almost' round the case and getting stuck on a high spot

id drain the oil out and see what prizes you have won!

First thing I did. The usual magnetic fuzzy stuff with a mixture of metallic finger nail clippings. :?:
Don’t understand how I could have reverse drive but nothing forward unless that was the quiafe playing tricks on me.
Anyway if I don’t get to Barbon..out it comes.

Cracking day at Barbon, weather was awesome, my previous best Mini time was 32.03, and got down to 32.73 in a far less powerful DJJ and Nick on 34.09, hes coming for me !!

Shame Brian didn't make it, so we had to compare times with the classic car class all day and we were there or there about with the top few times

DJJ still cocks a rear wheel for fun, ive some red spot donuts to go on the front and some Hi Los for Harewood in August, stuck an entry in last night and hope we get one !

My father hasn't been on top form for a few good year's and he managed to make it, so 3 generations of competitive Mini Murphy's at Barbon !

A bit odd.

Started off Ok, both Adam & I got our 2 practice runs in without incident.

Adam's first timed run, he hit the dragons teeth coming out of Chippy's & lost a tyre, so he had a fail, & I got a fail to start. I went home to get some more tyres, but by the time I got back Adam had fixed it.

Second run, Adam did a 70.07 & I did a 69.59, but we didn't swap the numbers over so I got no time again,

3rd run both went Ok, Adam did a 70.16 & I did 69.87

Adam finished 3rd in class (on my time)
A finished second from bottom only recording 1 time for the day :(

Still, no harm done & we both live to fight another day.

Bizarre but strangely satisfying day by the sound of it

Ha, ha, don't tell Steve I was on slicks, I was wanting him to wonder how I had knocked 2 secs off since the last meeting :)

They were frickin' great! I reckon there is probably another second & a half to come yet too :)

I would love to see a pic, I haven't yet.
