1) Alloy wheels are the ones in question
2) No Rosepetals (Too expensive for my tastes)
3) Must fit over KAD 4 pot calipers
4) Size is 5 X 10
5) Tarmac rallying
Are Minilites worth the extra? Are the Minilifes OK? Certainly cheaper.
Not too keen on Superlights/Minilights/Revolites/Starmags
Any comments, suggestions or offers of cheap good wheels gratefully received.
Hmmm. The choice just shrunk.
One of the lads in my local club has roughly the same brake set-up and he struggled to get wheels.
He wanted genuine Minilites, but for some reason they wouldn't fit over the calipers.
Time for some enquiries methinks.
Homework completed.
He ended up putting Minator 10x6's on his car. The Minilites would not fit over the 7.9 4 pots because," the manufacturers had changed the casting slightly"
The 4 pots were not KAD items though.
It's on genuine Minilites at the mo but these are OLD Minilites & not the current "model" Can't see any ET marking though.
Minatots are certainly a possible. I've used them before (Non Mini) & found them fine. I assume that we're talking here about current Revolutions & not the imitation Revolite. Incidentally are those the road, race or rally versions?
OK tried Rich & he has absolooootely no idea if their 5 x 10 Minilife will fit over this set up. He also suggested that going down the Revolution road is a bit of a minefield due to various problems.
SO
Has anyone any further suggestions as to what will actually fit.
Not quite the same...but.
The Techdel/Deltech (?) minilite does fit over the minisport 4 pot on a 7.9 vented disc. This is the later ones though, post early 2000 ish as they did change the casting from the early ones.
I know this because that is what I am running. Mine are the 5 x10 but I also know the FIA 4.5 x10 (S offset) does too.
Thanks mk1 rally. I think that the Minisport calipers are a tad smaller although just how much smaller I've been unable to ascertain. I was somewhat hopeful of getting a few wheels without lashing out for the Minilites.
I have 7.9 vented, with K.A.D 4 pot alloys, and use 10" Revolution, fits perfect.
Thanks JCT ONE...........A check with Revolution however shows that they don't do a 5 x 10 unless it's their "8 spoke classic" [Minator I think] They do do a 6 x 10 in their 4 spoke range but only as a road wheel.
So there we are...........no further forward really ...........and I REALLY DID want to get the Minilifes with the BIG discount.
Thanks Dino for that info. I've got four wheels like that already [make unknown] so I don't really want any more. Makes changing tyres on a rally nigh impossible.
Five inch..........well the Minilites I've got are five so I don't really want a mix & match set. If forced however I might go for six.
At the moment my idea is:
1) Six 5 x 10 Minilifes........IF THEY FIT
2) Two 5 x 10 Minilites
That would give me a dry set & a wet set with spares.
Might however go for the above but in six inch. The car does have arches & isn't strictly to historic regs.
