Re: FE Number
Sounds like I am in the right decade LOL. My car was registered Feb 69 so plausible it belongs to my car. Must have sat for a while before being registered. I could not fathom if I removed it from my Mk 1, 2 or countless other Minis when they lose their front end or if it was just in with a box of bits...

Re: FE Number
FE1305217 is a bit later than that, more like September 1968.

Re: FE Number
Thank you Simon. That would tie in much better with my Feb 69 Cooper. Cheers

Re: FE Number
No. Several members of this board have collected and collated the numbers over the years though, namely Simon !!monkeyjim wrote:Are there any records matching FE numbers to chassis ?

Re: FE Number
Been interested in this topic regarding fe numbers had a quick look at mine .it reads fe9172 it was originally reg mfl212 .then given an age related plate in 1983 .it had foam filled sills .does this indicate a fairly early shell 1960 1961 thanks for any help.

Re: FE Number
Interesting, I have foam filled sills and FE102052. So yours must have been near the beginning of the foam fill run, and mine near the end. But 92,880 apart seems unlikely, do you think?

Re: FE Number
FE9172 is from December 1959
FE102052 is from November 1960

FE102052 is from November 1960

Re: FE Number
Awesome,
THANKS
I didn't think they introduced foam filled sills until 1960, interesting.

Re: FE Number
The chassis number should be stamped on the O/S innerwing to cross member stiffener. You might need to remove some paint though.

It could have sat unsold for some time also. I've sent for the cert we will see what it says.

I got an email from one of the 59 mini guys who looked the car up and that is where the shipping date came from. It would have been cool if he got the build date also. One of the guys on another forum I'm on has one about 1200 cars after mine and his build date was 20 jan 60 and ship date of 28 jan 60. So I'm guessing based on his build to ship being 8 days if I take 8 days off my ship date mine should have been built around the 13th of Jan.
