it can be done by machining the rod way so the stud clears the cam, but its an unelegant solution thats far from ideal
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

Yup, I've tried and found this as well with Saenz con rods.

Thanks for that, i gather from the picture youve machined the spot face where the rod bolt head sits and possibly reduced the edge of the rod ? Anymore detailed info would be appreciated.

Hi,

nothing more than can see and you mentioned. But you should care about the peace of the thread now looking downwards. Otherwise it will contact the gearbox housing.

Perhaps I should add. What you see is a standard crank of a 1293 engine. It’s just made for standard inlet valves. If you will use one of the new competition heads with 37mm or more inlet valves, you will need 73.5mm pistons and a short stroke crank if you need to keep the 1300ccm.

Best regards

hopp!

i have done this on my arden-headed engine last year.

whe machined down the seat of the bolt by 2,5 mm so it would not touch the camshaft.

the engine worked very well but failed becuse the new arden head was repaired with some araldite glue... ( no coment...)

regards fabian
I promise i won't buy another MkI...

2.5mm from a 1.75" journal rod? Sure you don't mean 1.625" rods?

I think he means the spot facing for the stud head was dropped a further 2.5 mm (which may also require shorter studs? )

Yes, on the photo you saw a 1.75 big end journal and at the second con rod you have to cut the stud for the same 2.5mm. Otherwise it will contact the gearbox housing.

Ok. When I measured the same thing, it seemed to be more than that to make things go around (!) :)

Yes, Innocenti rods are big journal. Did yo have to modify them in a similar way ? and by how much?
