Re: Universal joint on mini steering column
allegro, meastro etc have a uj & shaft, but you will need to have an extra support for the outer shaft
wil h has done this in his race car and its a weird feeling to get into a mini with a 'new' steering wheel angle!

please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares

I like that idea - might solve a problem of mine. Do you know if that a complete column from another BL offering or a grafting together of columns?

Re: Universal joint on mini steering column
So could we not just weld a UJ to the bottom of the mini steering coloumn then ??
although thinking about it we would also need to support the bottom end of the column housing as shown in the pic

The hillclimber Mini set up is pictured in link below, as said uses a Montego or Maestro column, splines are the same and it has 2 universal joints.

Re: Universal joint on mini steering column
What a good idea, I've been looking at doing something similar but also incorporating/making it a quick rack. But It uses a standard steering rack!
and a inline gear reducer that reduces full turn to turn lock making it quicker to turn.
