FE Number dating and missing log book required please

Post by rolesyboy »

Hi All. I have an unregistered Smooth roof early van and wondered , in the absence of a log book if one of you wizards could tell me an approximate build date please? The FE 347700 is (last digit could be an 8??)
Also what channel are best route for getting a reg. doc from Swansea. All I have is the van, its chassis number and original registration number. Cheers. Mark

If you get a Heritage Certificate off the chassis number for it that'll tell you the build date etc. If you then apply through the V765 scheme for the logbook back what you'll be told is that if you have some historic (pre '83) evidence to tie that reg number to the van, ie old MOT, tax discs, RF60, old photos, invoices etc then you could probably get a V5C back for it with the original number (none transferable) , without that evidence it'd be an age related plate I',m afraid.

FE 347700 is (last digit could be an 8??)
That would be around July 1962.

Where was it registered? The local archive may be able to assist.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who do not possess it.

There is some good information on vehical registration archives here: http://www.kitheadtrust.org.uk/vehicle_records_5.html
I found out researching my car that most of the Greater London records were destroyed.
Best of luck to you.
Cheers, Derek
