yes it looks ok,very smart hope its ok when the engine gets hot.

same stuff not come outa my cans,ill tell you that !!!

not that i cant paint either,,,im time served in the automotive paint industry.

my paint was a duff mix ,,but what annoyed me was the bull##it that they tried fobbing me off with!!!!!!

i told em straight up, what was wrong with it,and about the breakdown of the reduced yellow oxide 3 resin in the cheap polyeurathane base binder. (this stuff has same pigments as dulux house paint)
i have the upper hand with these geezers as i was trained at ici ,du pont,inmont (now r-m) and ppg paints...

once they knew i knew my onions,they wouldnt communicate any further or offer refund or replacement.

i dont expect miracles
just want a usable product without the bull and excuses.

what they dont account for is the labour incurred in stripping the gooey mess off!!!

if its faulty (and it was-all 3 cans of it) a replacement or refund would have been sufficient...

not been insulted by an amateur paint mixer who dont even know what synthetic binder he used in the mix-

MOSS classic colours aersols are excellent,and used them on many concours winning cars.

you try summat else and what do you get....??



ill stick to what i know is CONSISTANT quality in future.

The cans from Moss are also not always working well. Quite a bit of difference in colour between different batches of cans (if you look closely, you will notice this on the pictures below - I paint each part separately) and most of the time you can only get about 85% of the stuff out... Anyway, this is the result you can achieve with them. It stays on fairly well but not when engine has run very hot.

nice to see other peoples views on the paints

problem with the "fascinating finishes " stuff is the paints inability to withstand heat

the resins used in its construction are low flash point and quite flammable

i shall go back to using 2 pack to paint my blocks and heads- much harder wearing and can be cleaned with solvents without worry.

looks like ive been lucky with moss,unlucky with fascinating paint

win some -lose some i suppose

well an update
"fascinating finishes" gave me a fascinating time
well,not quite but has given me hours of non-joyous entertainment

on start up ,after ten min the paint on the rocker cover went soft..
then as it cooled it started to crozzle
on re-start up,it flowed out again
then recrozzled.
blah blah blah

eventually turned into a soggy mess on the engine!!

contacted them,read them the riot act and we were refunded immidiately,,
which is a refreshing change

whether thier paint is always like this ,or they canned me up ( 3 tins) the wrong paint is anybodys guess

if you have some,,have a sniff-if it smells like house paint,u have same batch as mine.
cheap polyeurathane
never thru-cures,,not heat resistant or solvent resistant as they describe it,

Just a thought for those of you who want to use 2K to paint your engine and are unsure what colour to go for i have always used a Leyland colour called Tundra from about 1974 it is a pretty good match to the darker engine green (see street rat seven strand)

i agree cooperman-

tundra....ive used this on the later engines,and the "BRITISH STANDARD- MID BRONZE GREEN" is good for early 60s lumps,which were substantially lighter.
ive found many 59 and 60 lumps in a much lighter colour than mid bronze green also.

I had a copy of a BMC or BL internal memo which refered to engine paint as "Olive Green BS220" if that is any help to anyone.
