Obvious differences between a 1960 reg car and later mk1's
Can anyone tell me what i should be looking for in a car registered in 1960 to verify its the original shell? For instance between this and a 1965 shell or are they the same? Non cooper just 850

I am not an expert, in these early cars but if its an early 1960, it has the same welded seat mounts, as a 59 Mini

differences you might find between those years including the seat mountings mentioned, the earlier cars had the wrap around floors so no vented outer sills, if the floors are wrap around they will also have a wider front pressing where your heel goes with the outer rib going straight into the depression instead of angling like the later ones, flat front and rear window frames later ones are indented just outside the seal, rear valence closers are open on the early ones as in they don't close off the ends of the valence, the front crossmember in the engine bay is a much crisper box shape, single skin a panelsSteve A wrote:Can anyone tell me what i should be looking for in a car registered in 1960 to verify its the original shell? I have no idea exactly what month my shell is, my original was a januaryish car, morris build number 14577. As the shell was this side of destroyed I replicated the differences between it and this one in this shell. Mostly the differences I found were in the captive nuts, this one had them caged 4 point nuts, my original was brazed on 6 point nuts.
