Taking 3hrs away from competitors when It's not open to spectators and only then only giving 2 practice and 2 timed feels abit wrong / talking the piss by Prescott considering £30 gets you 2 none competitive runs. Which will still require marshals and safety equipment. Which is covered by the entry fees of the competitors.

Re: Prescott Mini Festival 22nd May 2021
I have just received the final instructions for Adam & myself.
Looks like it's game on
Lots of names I recognise, & some I don't. The one that is most notable in it's absence is a certain Mr Pete Flanagan.

Now I have seen that the non competitive parade runs get as much track time as the competitive runners who paid 4 time as much I wish I had saved my money !
Seems a bit cockeyed to me!

Who came up with the Class Structure?????
I'm a road going/insured car and I have been dumped in with Bod who will eat me for breakfast, and his car is faster than mine as well...boom boom.
What's the point in turning up if you know you have not got a chance in your class? I don't do this for fun you know..!
Matt Clarke's fire breathing monster is deemed unmodified at 1460...

Re: Prescott Mini Festival 22nd May 2021
Does anyone know the reasoning behind this 67 split?
Because modifications in that class have not been limited to pre 67 like in HRCR for example. So what's the point?
The classes are what different to what I was told when I phoned up to enter.
I understand that if not enough cars have been to the class then they need to merge them with other classes.

Re: Prescott Mini Festival 22nd May 2021
Other than plugging the event I’ve actually had to take a back seat with this a couple of weeks back sadly due to serious family health issues which understandably have become my priority though it has to be said that a particularly difficult relationship with the venue, their own ongoing internal problems, their dreadful booking system and the constraints of a pandemic really didn’t help matters.
Sorry the class structure isn’t great, I didn’t get to decide that unfortunately, though I'm sure you’ll understand how complex it can be to split so many similar competition Minis into different classes. As far as I knew they were dividing them based on conventional MSUK regs, ie standard production, roadgoing, modified, Libre, plus rally cars and derivatives based on a questionnaire that was sent out but not everybody replied to it. That’s what the scrutineers wanted anyway. There’s a good chance they’ll rejig/subdivide them yet if there are any obvious anomalies.
Please make the best of it and enjoy if for what it is, organised during a pandemic to provide a welcome escape from months of lockdown! Should there be another one next year though... I’m pretty sure I’ll do it myself and it’ll be the full hit.
I’ll be very surprised if I’m there next Saturday for my own reasons completely aside from the event itself. If not I hope you all have a great time and I’ll be watching on YouTube!

Re: Prescott Mini Festival 22nd May 2021
Also my best wishes to you and your family Pete and thank you for your work on this.
I’m just so grateful to be getting out to an event, to be able to drive in competition at that event, to have the time to have a chat with a few friends on here and have a good look at what folks have brought.
To me, the classes aren’t so critical. I’m racing myself essentially and I can compare my times to similar cars regardless of class.
That said, it also gives me plenty of room for excuses

Re: Prescott Mini Festival 22nd May 2021
Pete deserves HUGE thanks for getting this off the ground. It is a shame he probably won't be able to make it, but I know he'd be there is he possibly could. We all know that family stuff is so much more important that faffing about with cars.
The great thing about thie event is that we have 80 odd Minis having a chance to run in one weekend! This is UNHEARD OF!
When you have so many cars running at the same event, the class structure is bound to be weird.
Speaking for myself. I never had any hope of doing any good with so many brilliant drivers & cars attending so it was only ever going to be a day out for me. This makes the class structure totally irrelevant.
Looking forward to a brilliant days Mini fun!
