Time for a well overdue update:
Unfortuneatly mini Ha Ha was put on hold due to me having to refit our new bathroom so that took a lot of time and MONEY
Early on in this tread I mentioned that my rear subframe had been stolen so after much looking I managed to find a rear subframe. It was complete with more or less everything on it. Looks like it had been dropped off the car and just stored away. Condition wise it initially looked rough in the pics until you looked closely. It mainly had surface rust all over which made it look in poor condition but all the edges were nice and straight. It is an early frame though as it had the early radius arms and steel trumpets
Im pretty sure its a 61 or earlier as alloy trumpets were fitted from early 62 I think.
I removed the radius arms and to my horror all the radius arm bolts came undone easily, I was so shocked. I removed the arms so I was able to lift it up and be able to offer it up so I could make sure the M-Machine floor was in the right position, which it was
Now it was time for welding and patching so I've started with fitting the drivers step and A post/flitch area. The M-Machine repair panels were offered up but did need a little fine tuning.
I was also short of a drivers door, stolen at same time as subframe but have found one. its not in a very good condition but is an unmolested original. It seems to fit the hole nicely.
Next was the bottom of the drivers quarter panel using yet another M-Machine panel. Now sometime in the past, its had an accident repair with panel beating done to a 7" square section just above the repair panel im fitting. Now the panel is, to say the least, not exactly nice and flat.
Im pondering whether to get the guy who will be painting it to inspect it and say yes it will be fine or just fit a new rear quarter. Time will tell.
In the last few weeks i've being repairing the passenger A post area and the lower corner of the windscreen which as turned out quite nicely.
Today i've had a good session at the lower passenger quarter area which has turned out really nicely.
My next area to tackle is the boot floor. I'm going to replace it with a heritage panel an do all the mods to it myself like the spare wheels boss, single fuel hose hose etc.
So there you go guys, its coming on but still along way to go yet.
I'm trying to upload some picture's but i'm struggling to do that at the mo so fingers crossed
