64 Cooper S Speedo

Post by bwaminispeed »

Check out the shift points on this sucker, 42, 60, and, 85 MPH........

Yikes, what revs would those equate to assuming 3.44 gearing, and, close ratio 333 box......

Would seem to me to be well into the 7s......

85 MPH is approx 6400 RPM in 3rd for the Mk1 'S' C/R box w/3.44 FD according to John's calculator
Pretty close match to the same ~6500 change points for all 3 gears on that speedo.

yeah, the tool doesn’t have all the combinations, but that one was the closest match.

I am trying to see the final two numbers on the speedo code, is it 32???

If so a 63-4 pre voltage stabiliser model for the optional gears and 'axle' as they call it. Must be a rare beast these ;-)
