'stripped my oil pump as it got covered in swarf (don't ask) but I forgot to mark which way up the external rotor (annulus) went. Luckily it has a dot stamped into one side ...which way should the dot face? towards the engine or away?
(There is not a similar dot punch mark on the internal rotor)

Re: oil pump question
Just taken an old pump apart and the dot on the outer rotor is towards the pump body/engine.

It is new and it got covered in swarf...that why I said "don't ask!"

No, start with just one bottle of Crystal, then shift gear onto £10 a bottle from Aldi/lidl/tesco's! (no one notices the swap)
That way you can be fully tanked before hitting the power tools!
