Steering Column Shroud

My shroud could use a clean-up.
Is this paintable?
If yes, what type of paint?

Painted mine with Plasticote using their primer & top coat in a rattle can .my cover had gone brown so pleased with the results.

I used the following .. "PlastiKote" (the perfect finish),, comes in a 400ml Rattle Can .. Multi surface Spray Paint ..recoat anytime
the cans barcode no 50055018109523 .. Black Gloss.
suitable for wood, metal, plastic,stone,wicker & crafts
made by MOTIP DUPLI.BV made in Holland

Sorry that that i cant find the PlastiKote Primer Paint that i also used.

Don't bother painting it. Give it a good rub down with some toothpaste then polish with brasso.

Good as new.

I tried toothpaste but not abrasive enough.
Then used 220 and 320 grit wet/dry paper followed by copper polish.
Much better but still some work to do.
I will purchase finer grit and try again.

The top piece is the before and the bottom picture is the after.
Compare bottom to previous posted picture and you can see the staining is gone.

Here is my finished product.
I am pleased with the final result!

Used 220, 400 and 600 wet/dry paper, Brasso and a bit of shoe polish cream!
Buffed it with my shoe polish brush!

I used the shoe polish since the Brasso smelled a lot like shoe polish!
I tried buffing with a buffing wheel but the bakelite plastic did not seem to like it (not sure why).

I was going to use Autosol but Brasso was more readily available and more reasonably priced.
