Lower Body Trim
Our car is a 1960 Morris Mini De-Luxe (per the Heritage Museum). It is missing the 6 piece lower body mouldings. I can source them in body colour without much difficulty but I think on a De-Luxe they should be bright metal.
Hoping to get confirmation on this point.
thanks,
Brian

Re: Lower Body Trim
Phoenix trim do it by the roll, but I'm not sure if theirs has the 100% correct profile I've never seen it myself. I've spoken to Minispares about it quite some time ago as theirs was out of stock. They told me they couldn't get the correct Deluxe shape trim (with the extra lip) in the bright chrome anymore as the process for chroming the plastic had been forbidden. They were waiting on samples from the spec one which was a tad more matte. Don't think there's been any movement on that since.
Of course I know what a dipstick is, you get called something often enough you look it up!

I'm not sure that is correct. None of the early "deluxe" Minis I've owned had the stainless trim.

Re: Lower Body Trim
No, they were fitted with the bright plastic trim exactly as in your picture at the start of this thread - as opposed to the metal stainless steel trim which comes in 3 sections per side and was not introduced as far as I remember until the Mini "Super" and "Cooper" models came out.kensk77 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 2:21 pmThey were body colour then?Old English White wrote: ↑Mon Nov 09, 2020 7:38 am I'm not sure that is correct. Re: Lower Body Trim
The car is an early September, 1960 build. I found this online, wonder if it would work.

Re: Lower Body Trim
My first Mini, a 61 Traveler had two piece Stainless trim......the curved bit over the front wheels arches, and, a straight bit from the bottom of the A panel, to the front edge of the wood trim.........

Re: Lower Body Trim
Been looking at one of my books and didn't realise plastic preceded the steel trims.
