I fitted a remote servo to my 67 elf, fitted it under bonnet above the clutch housing using the brackets that where supplied with servo. In my opinion far easier mounting it under bonnet as not having to run brake pipes and hoses inside car and also make more more brackets for inside, Regulator may need moved but am on alternator so it wasn't a problem.
But realistically how often do you need clutch out so I wouldn't let that put you off under bonnet installation. If really wanted could mount under bonnet using stainless steel flexi brake pipes so if did need it out could swing out of road without disconnecting pipes.

Servo fits fine on a Mk1 when the voltage regulator is on the inner wing. It just has to be a little further forward than the location for this type of servo when installed on a Mk3. The location and angle of it on a Mk3 it more dictated by the fresh air duct which pokes through the inner wing at the front - picture of a 1962 MK1, and 1970 Mk3 below. This particular Mk3 Cooper incidently has just 4130 miles on the clock from new and is how it left the factory. The Mk1 has 60x that milage...

Servo installation under way.
The angle of the inner wing is almost correct for the angle the servo should be at! It just needed a little bit of manipulation.
I’ll have to remove the servo to fit the insulation to the wheel arch, and also to fit the demister pipe work, but there is plenty of space for everything AND I have not crowded out the engine bay.

With the Servo located within the car it will give you its Noise every time you Brake .. just to tell you its still working ;)

Heater not mounted at the moment, just to provide better access. I did fit the heater vent pipes just so I could ensure there was space for them.
The servo tucks nicely out of the way and does not take up space under the bonnet.

What you have to think about is , what is it going to do to your passengers legs if involved in an accident ?

I use flexi pipes from mini spares , LHD braided clutch pipes which allows to drop over wing , remove engine without bleeding

I'm doing a Mk1 build and not very concerned about correctness. Living here in the US I'm good with LHD. I have run a single line brake system with 7.5 S brakes and no booster for many miles. I later converted to a late torque tube LHD brake assembly with the built in booster and master mounted on the right. This was or is on my 85 1000 E. I stumbled on another complete kit for the late boosted master. I plan to use this on my Mk1 project which will be a very quick street car. I wonder if I'm over looking anything? Steve (CTR)

You will probably find the cantilever (1989-on) servo will clash with the bonnet hinge on a Mk1,
