Not sure about the 998 bit but a nice set of pics Billy ! Here's an 'Andy Jones eye view' of the start, what happened to Godfrey did he nudge the back of the Tina when he went off at Cascades on the first lap ? He must have been gutted as a podium was definately on as Jones discovered !

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3nW7xwTFkY

Nice to see the drivers of the Anglebox and Cortina have a reassuring hug after the Anglia T boned the Tina on the last corner of the last lap vying for third ! Very sportsmanlike.

Nice little dice with two of our posters (Andy and Paul) until Andy slipped past and Paul's shocker came adrift ! Shame for Tim as he didn't get a run but some useful track time and qualied on the fourth row !

Any damage on that last run Dave ? I just saw you nudge the tyres as the rain came down (again!). No grip on that rally stage even in the dry !

Thanks to everyone for coming along, a nice variety of cars this year, I'll put some pics up later.

Pete I'm glad for your pointing to the engineering that goes into the Imps http://www.shrigleyengineering.co.uk/ as it's impressed me as to how they can keep up with us in a straight line.

Also a note about the Imp with the novice cross on in front of Andy Jones , David Heale. We met parked on the track when practice got red flagged at Cadwell. (one Imp had an engine change after practice and on the first lap of qualifying the sump plug came out and all the oil went round 1/2 mile of track and then it blew up. David and I got a faceful)
Turns out he has to run a novice cross as the previous race that he did with the Imp was in 1972!

I would have been on the grid in front of Andy Jones . He's not shy is he?

Well done to Mike. Some success at last

I did wonder as he certainly knew the ropes and went very well ! Quite some development going into those Imps then !

Andy Jones certainly has got that Imp well set up, it was very stable through Druids and the dark blue Imp of David Heale kept up well with him for a while. Thanks to Tim for explaining about the novice cross on David Heale's car because I did wonder. Not raced since '72 - that's 39 years ago and I was working, driving my '68 Healey Sprite, was single and still had all my hair!

:D :D :D :D :D Yes, well chuffed with my class win and fastest lap yesterday (thanks for noticing that Pete). i have been chasing Mr Godfrey for 4 years and as you must know never beaten him but been close especially at Croft last year . I know he fell of, but I still beat him and who knows what would have happened. My car was going well. Yep those Imps are quick, but they are very light and have much bigger tyres than us so they dont overheat so quickly. You should see the state of my brand new fronts after that race, they really do talke a pounding.
Thanks for all the chats and wishes in the paddock.
Pete! If you could manage a picture or two I would be gratefull. smithmichael33@sky.com

No real damage Pete, (just my pride!). It was like someone grabbed the rear wheels and through the car backwards. Couple of tire marks to clean off and new rear lense from the same spot the day before. Water, that surface and used r32's don't mix. Funny enough the lads with the falkens looked to have bit more grip! I've heard it said they slip off the bonfire if you try and burn them but they grip in the wet at oulton!

Really ??? I've a set on my mutant just while I fettle and run it in (plus I didn't pay for 'em) and believe me when pushed they are truly shite ! I went straight on at Cuddington roundabout yesterday much to the amusement of my lad in the passenger seat !

Nice to see this being talked about from a Mini perspective - as an Imp owner for the past year (72 Imp with 998 R20 cam giving out 90bhp or so) I have been reading about everything as Imp Imp Imp!
