Repairing Mk2 lower Dash rail 'dents'

Post by rolesyboy »

Any folk out there know of a way to repair the lower crash rail/dash pad on a Mk2. I have a dent in mine but the black coating is intact. Thanks. Mark

Would think you would need to remove it and try to push out from the back, not easy though as the foam is brittle.you could always try a little heat on the area.

I have had luck in the past using my steamer to puff foam back up, and bring things into shape.

Take the dash pad out and drill a 5/16 or bigger hole carefully in the foam , blow out excess with a airline . Then spray in the hole with expanding foam rattle can . Use masking tape to stop the expanding foam from coming out . As the foam cures it pushes the dent out . Works a treat .... Ken
