Cooper S bearing spacers

Post by mike owen »

I have had problems getting the right bearing spacers with new hubs,it seems that the spacers are too narrow giving the roller bearings a lot of preload. I ended up with a shim to get things right but I dont like it. I got spacers from Swiftune that where fine in original hubs but these new hubs seem to spread the bearings needing thicker spacers. Anyone had this problem?

Never had the problem that the spacers were too narrow. Are the outer parts of the bearing on which the rollers run properly fitted in as far down as possible?

Did have the problem of spacers being too thick. I have had them machined thinner to accomodate for this and now have a fair set of spacers in several sizes.

The hubs had no part numbers on them, I tried to remove and reseat the bearings and both hubs still needed 5 thou shims. I also had to file a groove to get the caliper to mount as it would not go on far enough to get the mounting bolts started.
