Remote Gear Change Spring

Does anyone one happen to have a picture of the tension spring that sits bellow the gearstick on a post '64 remote change housing? I'm looking at spring number 52 here. http://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/eshop/in ... age&id=151

The spring I have is a looks like a traditional vertical sided spring but in the exploded diagram on Somerfords website it appears to the tapered? I'm struggling to change gears with everything bolted up as per the diagram but when I remove everything and just hold the gearstick in I can change gears fine.

that big spring is just a normal vertical sided spring

I just happen to have one on my desk at work........
