Re: Tyres for 12" wheels
I was told Dunlops. Apparently a control tyre which forced the move to 13 inch wheels.

Re: Tyres for 12" wheels
I was using 048R's at Blyton, I have to say they are quite simply the best tyre I've ever had on a Mini, they even work in the wet reasonably. Very soft and sticky but great compliance and no nervousness on the limit, allowed progressive slip just over the grip limit. Can't recommend them enough.

Re: Tyres for 12" wheels
The 48Rs seem to be the best tyre out there for the money. Have had friends race with them on 13" wheels and they seem to last quite well also.
Swifty was definitely running Dunlops on the GT at Goodwood.

Re: Tyres for 12" wheels
Are you allowed to use slicks?
On the 2.5 km circuit we race at in Sicily lap times between semi slicks and slicks improve by 3 seconds a lap, and I'm talking about good quality "semi slicks" like Dunlop DZ03, compared with Dunlop slicks.
Also, difference between a Toyo 888 and a Dunlop Direzza DZ03 on same car, same driver, same day is a good 2 seconds a lap, so the right tyre can certainly make a difference.

Re: Tyres for 12" wheels
Yes, what threw me was that I'd seen it on it's 12" GKN's in the paddock but 13" in the race, but yes they're obviously Dunlop CR65s, which is what I think I'll stick on the Unipower if I can get the wheels sorted.Red Mist wrote:

I've only ever tried Avon CRZ-66s and Dunlop slicks on track, but can't wait to try CR65s...they look like great fun!Pete wrote:

Unfortunately, they're the only available tyre in 12".. We need something wider. Can you hear me Yokohama??!!!!!!!Red Mist wrote:The 48Rs seem to be the best tyre out there for the money. Have had friends race with them on 13" wheels and they seem to last quite well.
