Hi all. First post in a long long time here! Good to be back. My Mk1 has just been insured finally (I will update my build thread with pictures ) and I really want to fit my britax 3 point belts (before the weekend hopefully!!). The difficulty I have is that in my b pillar I have 2 chrome inserts punched through b pillar with the thread on the inside, but I am unsure of the thread diameter so I can get some bolts to fit correctly. I have searched around and think they should be 7/16 UNF and about 1.5 long but im not sure. http://www.minispares.com/product/Classic/GHF107.aspx
Also on the floor I have 2 holes where the U bolt would have been fitted to anchor the belt down by the sill, 22mm inbetween the legs with a thread length of 40mm, m8. I have found some but with something so safety critical I want to make sure I do it right. I would also use 3mm spreader plates underneath too. Are there any safety standards I should look for when buying bolts?
Thanks very much for your help as always its very much appreciated and any replies today would be great as I would like to order ASAP to get the bits before the weekend
Thanks Tristan

That arrangement with the U-Bolt is not at all what I have on my Mk1. (Your subject line says Mk2, your text above says Mk1). The Britax belts must use a very different anchor method than the Kangols in my car.
The U-bolt you linked to is stainless which I don't think is appropriate for a seat belt anchor. I am confident saying you would want a tough grade of regular steel, not stainless.
You are correct about the thread size but I cannot confirm the length of the bolt. I remember these as shoulder bolts, or large head bolts with a spacer tube on them. (See eBay item 141203046047). The intent is the triangular plate the belt attaches to should pivot. I have one such anchor point at the top of the B-Pillar and another one at the bottom, both threaded. I cannot remember the details of how the buckle end of the belt attaches to the tunnel but I know that its triangular anchor plate is also free to pivot. I know it uses a similar bolt but I cannot remember if it is a bolt with large washers against the tunnel or a weldnut in the tunnel.
I have no advice about the door seals except to expect to have to work a bit to get the doors to close properly again once you fit new seals.
Tris give me a call I have a box of seat belt bolts from later cars should have the horrid
belts from 9618 too for parts and a pack of samples for door rubbers from Phoenix Supplies
Thanks for the replies. dklawson thanks for pointing that out, thats a late night typo error! will try and change that.. Interesting they are nothing like your mountings. The B pillar has those threaded tubes (thanks for confirming size), by the sill there is just 2 8mm holes for the U bolt to fix through. For the tunnel mounting again there is 2 8mm holes where 2 bolts go through to a spreader plate on the outside.
I noticed those bolts on ebay you linked to and did ponder purchasing..
I will give you a call Ian..
