It doesn't look like it needs a freshen up, just a full tank of fuel. :D I see it's even got the same jacking block as mine ;) Lovely motor.

Love the red/grey scheme, especially on the roof.

Nooo - you dont need to "freshen up" anything , its lovely 8-)

Thats some heater "thingy" you got there, quit different to the European type.

The heater thingy is an early MK1 fresh air heater, it was the standard option heater until the standard one came in. I used to have one in my 1071.

They were brilliant, much better than the later standard one, very quiet & worked superbly.

Dont see many of those, and yes, the postition of the fan does make them a lot more quiet, than the later ones with the fan inside the cabin.

hi everyone....
the car is treat and if i can find the old kodachrome 6x4s i took during the re-birth back in the 80s i'll scan them and post them up...
the car wasnt really even fit for chooks when i got it but astonishingly still had its original flat sills and unmolestered floors which survive today!
I discovered through help here on this forum the car is in the first 500 CKDs built here in australia.
The car runs the original round pad calipers and frankly lived up to the fabled motoring journalist complaints at the time and refused to stop until I fitted 5/8 rear cylinders and the VH44 booster....albeit where the passenger put their knees!!
Its 998 spec using a 997 block, megadyne 270 cam, 12G295 head and a standard 3into1 exhaust with a 22G1128 gearbox and 'S' ratios including a 3.44:1 final drive.
The 3.44 does make long runs much nicer but I have considered reverting it back to the 3.765..
still love it to bits though
Michael

I'm sure you may well have seen this but had to post it as your car reminds me of the one Bruce McLaren raced :

(That's Bruce's wife Pat in the passenger seat)

cheers for that yes i have seen that pic before and love
the tenuous connection.
i looked it up and I think that pic was taken in 1962 at the Australian
Grand Prix at Caversham in WA racing not only in open wheel coopers but in the touring car
events as well....

Hi

Really nice car, well done :D

I note that you have a shaped boot board. I am looking for a pattern to make one and wonder if you would make a brown paper / lining paper pattern so that i can make one. Could you also advise me of the ply thickness?

(Required for my 63 cooper).
I am happy to pay the postage.

Old restorations always have to start again at some stage.
Little jobs here n there....
Nearly 30 years on and the need to re-chrome the overriders was beckoning.....

A real credit to you Michael, you restored it 30 years ago and it still looks great, did the job right the first time.
