It doesn't look like it needs a freshen up, just a full tank of fuel. I see it's even got the same jacking block as mine Lovely motor.

hi everyone....
the car is treat and if i can find the old kodachrome 6x4s i took during the re-birth back in the 80s i'll scan them and post them up...
the car wasnt really even fit for chooks when i got it but astonishingly still had its original flat sills and unmolestered floors which survive today!
I discovered through help here on this forum the car is in the first 500 CKDs built here in australia.
The car runs the original round pad calipers and frankly lived up to the fabled motoring journalist complaints at the time and refused to stop until I fitted 5/8 rear cylinders and the VH44 booster....albeit where the passenger put their knees!!
Its 998 spec using a 997 block, megadyne 270 cam, 12G295 head and a standard 3into1 exhaust with a 22G1128 gearbox and 'S' ratios including a 3.44:1 final drive.
The 3.44 does make long runs much nicer but I have considered reverting it back to the 3.765..
still love it to bits though
Michael

cheers for that yes i have seen that pic before and love
the tenuous connection.
i looked it up and I think that pic was taken in 1962 at the Australian
Grand Prix at Caversham in WA racing not only in open wheel coopers but in the touring car
events as well....

I note that you have a shaped boot board. I am looking for a pattern to make one and wonder if you would make a brown paper / lining paper pattern so that i can make one. Could you also advise me of the ply thickness?
(Required for my 63 cooper).
I am happy to pay the postage.
Old restorations always have to start again at some stage.
Little jobs here n there....
Nearly 30 years on and the need to re-chrome the overriders was beckoning.....
