Moto Lita repair
Evening chaps
Ive just bought an early '60's Moto Lita flat leather rim wheel for VFF which needs the leather re stitching in places. Is there a recommended place that does this or has anyone done a home fix on this type of thing before?
Cheers Tim

Re: Moto Lita repair
You could try Moto-lita direct, last time I asked they would recover my wheel for £60, not sure about repairs though.

I had mine recovered by Moto-Lita. They made a lovely job, but they would wouldn't they. How bad is the damage, recovering might be the best option in the long run.

Re: Moto Lita repair
Ive not received the wheel yet but first impressions look like it just needs stitching back together and the leather needs a really good feed.

Re: Moto Lita repair
Sent my old 1970's Moto Lita back for leather rim recovering a few years back but sadly when they stripped it down the alloy rim was cracked and not worth repairing, so they supplied me a brand new wheel of exactly the same type for a discounted price instead and returned the old one to hang on the garage wall!

Re: Moto Lita repair
I have heard many times that Moto-Lita will recover their old wheels. A friend of mine is friends with Malcolm Gammons (of Brown and Gammons), and he apparently took in a few wheels of different brands for my friend, and had them refurbished at Moto-Lita.
However, when I contacted them about recovering my vintage Haan steering wheel, their response was "Urm, no thanks".....I guess you have to know someone like Malcolm.

....that was re fitting the whole kit and caboodle while I waited !!!.. is the word generic to explain a phrase or saying ?!!.....damp is the enemy of old leather steering wheels .. always keep em clean in the depths of a damp/cold winter.. tis not a prob in summer with the heat..u deffo get a few mould spores at least I did on mine when it was left outside ..jus use saddle soap and a quick buff up ..!!! foxy52jesset wrote:Hi,

I've had excellent service from Len Chandler. I'm sure he could sort you out a repair or re cover.
