Hi,

I have seen Somerford are now selling repro two piece radiator cowlings - just had my original radiator restored and my existing lower cowling is a bit bent and has cracked in a few places so I was thinking of buying one of theirs. Has anyone bought one of them?

They do two versions one for all models except cooper and cooper S models (RADCOWL001) and one for cooper and cooper S models (RADCOWL002). Could anyone tell me what the difference is between the two versions? They look exactly the same in the pictures to me!

I have a 1275 engine in my mk1 so I'm not sure if i would need the Cooper/Cooper S version or not?
I'm sure I must be using my original cowling from my 850 engine currently, so i'm just trying to understand what the differences between the two versions are!

Its probably something obvious that I havent thought about!

Many thanks

Jamie

The difference is the spacing of the mounting holes on the bottom.

These are made by M-Machine, available direct http://www.m-machine.co.uk/

Thanks Mark, i'll measure the mounting holes on mine then and give Mini Machine a call instead.
Appreciate your help.

As Mark said... the different are in the bottom,. The bracket are placed to take the cowl a little bit closer to the engine, or else it will hit the innerwing. talking about 10mm..

The holes are the same, but the "nomally" cowl wont fin the Cooper and S engine... its too close to the inner wing....

The ones from sommersford look good, ive seen them...

Actually, the radiator is in the same location just the different lower mount/bracket gives pulley clearance, by moving the mounting location.

Thanks for that Nicholas, that's really useful....I'm sure that I'm using the 850 version currently, I always thought it was very tight getting the bolts in by the pulley, think I will change the lower bracket at the same time to the cooper s version.
Thanks
