Hi all, I'm new to this site and afraid already needing to ask for some help
After spending hours de rusting I rushed into the repairs foolishly forgetting to take measurements beforehand.
I'm repairing the bulkhead cross member on my mkII and need a measurement between the tops of the inner wing to cross member triangular brace panels.
I needed to remove the right hand side as it had some swelling caused by an underlying rust issue. Once off I pieced in repairs to both brace panel and the underlying steel on the cross member, both had thinned to a point I thought a repair would be best. I've since lost my reference points for re assembly, I used a spot weld drill for removal and it left marks in the old steel but since repairs all old reference has gone.
I'm hoping someone could help out with an accurate measurement, I need in between the inside tops of the inner wing triangular brace as to be sure I get the new inner wings the correct distance apart.
Hope that makes sense, I've attached a couple of pictures, please help...
Many thanks, Ollie

Re: Help needed regarding reference measurements
My woody measures 868 mm at the rearmost (nearest the bulkhead) point and 860 mm at the front edge.
I had to change the off side brace on my car, but left the inner wing in place as a datum point.

I measured two of my cars and both are 865mm inside angle bracket to inside as shown on your photo.

Re: Help needed regarding reference measurements
Mine are within a mm of the previous two posts. When working on the front end its worth marking a centreline on the screen scuttle panel and use the bonnet as jig to line it all up.

Re: Help needed regarding reference measurements
Thanks a lot everyone for taking the time to help out there.
1071bob, that's a great tip, thank you. I have all the front end panels waiting and I'm hoping to get some time over the Christmas period to get the front end together, I'll give it a go.
Mk1, not sure about job being done properly though
I'm doing the best I can.
Cheers, Ollie
