Sprint caught on film...
Was watching the 1968 film 'The Killing Of Sister George' last night and caught a very brief glimpse of a yellow Sprint parked up in a London mews as the camera panned across... 'TGF 800F' is still with us according to a quick DVLA check, anyway thought I'd post a screen grab here...

Re: Sprint caught on film...
Hard to tell from that picture if thats a Sprint, the bonnent edge looks long and I'm not sure if S&A did cars with roof gutters at that point, could it be a deseamed car with Sprint style headlights? (waits to be shot down by far more knowledgable people )

Proportions look right and is the bonnet scoop to clear the carb dashpot rather than trim it like I know somone on here who trimmed theirs

The bonnet edge looks better on the monitor at home, still quite a distance between the headlight edge and indicator though , but it would be great if its still out there in Sprint form, mine was built with Alexander Twin Strombergs, and they still put a whacking great bonnet scoop on it

A similar reg to a very similar sprint that appeared at the 1968 Mini Festival, TGF 570F, only that one had arches on it.

I nearly fell off the sofa when it appeared on the screen!
'GF' is a London issue so I suppose there's a chance it could be a Stewart & Ardern job.... anyone know how many Sprints S&A actually sold...?

Re: Sprint caught on film...
All the S&A Sprints did indeed have rectangular lights.
I believe that there were originally somewhere around S&A ones done originally.
That by the way is an excellent spot!

Cheers for the info Mark - almost a case of 'blink and you'll miss it', it was only on screen for about two or three seconds.
Just Googled 'Minisprint' searching for images and it brought me back to a thread on here from 2011 - I'd forgotten how many variations there are amongst these cars!

Might as well post these scans here as anywhere else - an advert from the May '94 issue of Miniworld and a pic from the '30 Mini Years' souvineer mag of '89. I wonder where either of these cars are now...

Didnt know all S&A were made like that.
How about the Rob Walker Sprint,s then ? were they both round & rectangular ?

Re: Sprint caught on film...
If anyone cares to read the history bit of the http://minisprint.eu web site they will discover that original early Minisprints had the round lights, but after Geoff Thomas had a run in with a particularly jobsworth police officer it was pointed out that the centre line of the round lights was below the legal minimum height. This could be raised JUST enough to be legal by fitting rectangular lights. So the vast majority of original Rob Walker cars & ALL S&A cars had rectangular lights as standard, no doubt some have had the more attractive round lights retro fitted.
