Hi,
Any of you geeks out there know how much an engine/gearbox unit with carbs weighs to the nearest Kg or lb?

Thanks :ugeek:

I've got the weight of an engine & box with starter and alternator written down as 159kg.

I can't remember exactly what the spec of the one I weighed was but I'm guessing 1275, remote change box if that helps.

I know I can only just pick one up by myself to put in the van. I found this out last week when collecting an Ebay purchase from somebody's grandmother!

The fact that you can lift 159Kg is impressive enough. That you can lift that mass when presented in the form of an engine/gearbox combination, all the more so.

Getting to the "nearest Kg or lb" would require a lot of very specific information about engine size (1275s weigh more than 850s, for example), build specification, what accessories and even which/how many carbs. Getting close enough for practical uses, the 159kg quoted is pretty close and biased maybe on the high end. I normally use 150kg/330lbs as a good average.
