rear dry suspension ride height

needing to raise the rear ride height,looks a bit low at the arse end,i know we used to remove the cone, knock out the knuckle and put washers on the,pin and replace, but cant remember how many washers ,or the measurement to make a noticeable difference,thanks in advance

Replace the cones or buy Hi lo's and raise it up that way

Bodge? So the works team and everyone else bodged things did they?
0.10" washer should give noticeable lift. 0.20" was recommended maximum in period.

not in the habit of bodging sorry, but this was a recommended repair in my day,

Ratio at at the rear is 5:1.

not in the habit of bodging sorry, but this was a recommended repair in my day,
Yes back in your day, Parts these days are cheap and so widely available that theres no need to washer it
I won't start an aguement I was trained in an old school garage but we still did everything properly

Agree with the rear ratio as 5:1 and I think the front is 3:1.
Nothing the matter with using washers, done it for years with no problem, still looks original too.
As you say its only my tuppence worth.

New knuckles plus two washers makes a very noticeable difference.
One would consider the washer trick a bodge if they were raising the height of very well worn nuckles simply by inserting the washers without replacing the worn knuckle joints

for Appendix K racing we have to use washers to adjust the ride height and corner weights so do not see a problem, just do it!

the adjustment washers where a proper Rover part, so cannot really ever be considered as a 'bodge'

There are also taller knuckles available. They fitted these to the fronts of the last of the Rovers to hold up all the extra crap they put in to them. These will also work in the back. I think (not 100% sure) these were an extra 0.200" off the bat!
And you can add washers to these quite OK.
