Licence Plate Paint, Gloss or Satin finish ?

What was the original paint finish on the front and rear Mk 1 licence plate holders ? Was it Gloss black or Semi-Gloss black as was used on the petrol tanks?

Hi Jim,
I say they were finished in gloss black but a soft gloss. I think they were probably dipped.
