Is there any significant difference between the new weber 40DCOE that is on the market compared to those of sixties / seventies era?

Need to buy a pair for my 8 port .

The main difference between the newer versions and the old ones, are the venturi balance screws. These allow air to bypass the throttle plate and make getting a decent/steady idle a lot easier. With the older carbs you needed to drill a small hole in the bottom of the throttle plate, starting with a small hole and then enlarging it until you got a decent idle. If your weber has a white cap, just above the throttle spindle it's the newer version.

Does anyone know know who does a kit for the Arden eight port engine?

Hi,

there will be no single solution. This depends on the engine and on the chassis (GT or just mini). It is not just a bold on affair, especially if it is a common mini you will need to change the engines position, the bonnet and more.
