Well, some had a brain between the ears - the winning Ascona was a (Group1?) rally car with cage, extinguisher and helmet (and extra reversing light!). The 19SR Ascona A came with an lsd as standard, which clearly makes all the difference here.guru_1071 wrote:this is ace.

I witnessed something similar in 1979. I found it somewhat immoral, given the exposure to risk, the way the promoters wound up spectators to take part against their better judgement. Many I saw had no idea how their precious car would behave when trying to hang the tail out without an lsd. One 3 litre Capri was written off when the driver failed to anticipate the fishtail resulting and butted the barrier at 90 degrees. He didn't find it funny from then on...
