Rod change gearbox

Is the piece that makes up the back half of the differential carrier a matched set with the gearbox case? Or can I just change the back piece separate? I just noticed a hairline crack starting in the diff carrier. Thanks, Jeff

They are matched, but if You find a piece that fits, it will do it.

based on this info, I did get a replacement diff carrier, and it looks OK dimension wise compared to the old one, so I'll give it a shot, Thanks!
