C40 rewinding

Post by gaspen »

Hello

I am thinking about rewinding the field coil in my C40 dynamo because it is old and I measure 3 ohm resistance only
And I can not find a replacement

Anynody made this before ? What gauge and how long wire I need for it ?

Thanks

No, I bought new field coils. Still a PITA but easier than rewinding.

Not the same, but I recently wound a coil for a clock motor.
I had no idea what the resistance should have been as it was open crcuit and with 0.07mm diameter wire it was not easy to measure the length either which I estimated at about 1.5km
I weighed it and rewound a new one until the weight was the same.

Looks like I solved : there was a short circuit between the coil wire and the yoke, hence I measured only 3 ohms. I sealed it, now it's fine : 6 ohms
