I remember seeing those nodding dogs on the rear parcel shelf of the car in front, as a kid back in the day.....even better that 'Tiger Mascot' with eyes that light up automatically when you apply the footbrake!

Back then, everyone with a certain taste had a "Wackeldackel" * on the parcel shelf, along with their home-knitted toilet roll hat. 
Nice find, this old Halfords catalogue - has anybody got some NOS Asbestos Wrapping hanging around? For that period correct exhaust wrapping

What a great bit of nostalgia, and it makes me aware that I still have a few of those things in my garage, quite probably my dad's originally
