Always one of the first things to be removed from any Coopers or Elf/Hornets when they were plentiful in the local scrapyards during my Saturday or Sunday morning visits back in the 1970/80's, as an essential for 'upgrading' the doors on our more basic Minis. Only the much rarer to find Mk3 Hornet/Elfs in the scrapyard had the taller ones needed to fit the Mk3 Mini doors though.

They're available new from Minispares
Always think Mk1s and Mk2 look better with them fitted, whether or not they're Coopers. Many years ago I saw a bronze yellow Mk3 S at Stanford Hall which had them, it finished off the look of the car very nicely.

I agree the door trims should have been factory fitted to the Mk3 S but all part of the BL cost reduction I guess, so along with the standard grille it just ended up looking like a Mk3 Mini 850/1000 to most people.
I also thought the 'wrap around' stainless door frame trims fitted to Innocenti Minis were the best and much easier to fit but now hard to find and unlikely to be reproduced.

The MK1/2 upper frames are too short for a MK3 door.
MK3 Elf/Hornet do fit though. These are rare as most have been cut down to fit a MK1/2.

I'd forgotten that the Inno ones are different. Saw a mint pair of Inno doors with quarterlights and upper door trims for sale at Stanford Hall a couple of years ago and was tempted to buy them, I went back a bit later and they were gone. Typical!

Yep, VERY smart. I fancy a pair on my RCSport. Are they identical to the originals..., anybody? I wonder if it would affect its ever increasing value?

These are the Innocenti door trims which fit over the frame. Always seemed a much neater design than the trims used on UK built Minis and probably easier to fit on the production line without damaging the paintwork or having all those clips to line up...

Pete I had to tweak the top corner slightly on both of them . Couldn’t say if the inno door frame would have been slightly different to a rover MPI door frame ? … Shirley

How are they actually fixed to the door frames...?
And are they available new anywhere...?

They are fixed to the door frames with rivets which are hidden when the door is closed, a couple can be seen on the vertical part of door frame in the photos below.
Like most unique to Innocenti Mini parts I think they are now hard to find used and probably not enough demand for anyone to reproduce new ones.

Thanks mab
They really do finish off the look of the car nicely.

The Inno trims are very nice but they do require the door to be hung very precisely, a bit too far back and that trim takes all the paint off the B-pillar. You'll see quite a few Innos with scrape marks on the B-pillar from these trims. They do look great, and they're also made of stainless steel so much lower in the upkeep department too.

I wish Catmint could start fabricating Innocent door trims... Gordon, you there?
