Cutaway Section View Of 7.5" Cooper S Caliper?

Post by sandman »

Does anyone have a cutaway section view (photo or drawing) that shows all the internal fluid channels of an Cooper S caliper?

Many thanks!

If you are game to separate both halves of the caliper you can see it for yourself

Can I presume that the fluid duct in your caliper is clogged up? With them apart you can slowly rotate the exact size drill bit through the ducts that are visible. I did it with a set that I bought cheap - because the ducts were clogged up by old water contaminated brake fluid. All it cost was a set of caliper seals

The outer half of the caliper is pretty straightforward, I believe a straight line from the port to the piston bore

The inner half is a bit more complicated as it joins:
Bleed nipple
Brake hose
Bridging passage to outer half
Port to piston bore

There is a blanking plug with a copper washer which would allow access for the passages to be drilled and cleaned (which are all straight drillings)

BRILLIANT Tim..... Explains it all.

I was able to clear my spare set within a few minutes. I even annealed and re-used the copper gasket as I recall
