I will be having a Engine new number plate made and would like the sizes of the numbers and the letters.
Additionally could someone supply me with an A motor break down chart for the plate?
Much appreciated ............
Cheers

I purchased a number plate from minispares which was incorrect for my car.(I figured all plates were the same, and was not given a choice!)
At what year did the plate change from reverse stamping and plate size?

The MiniMail website has some good documents about plate changes.

I'm not confident anyone has done the necessary research to know with certainty which plant used what size characters - let alone font, at exactly what time in the past. I'm certainly not aware of any definitive tabulated data.
I've looked at the problem several times, and quickly put the task down again as once one starts you will realise there are too many permutations of detail for anyone to be able to cover even one model like mini, let alone covering different plants producing same, and then different brands.
I have in the past had business with the supplier of marking systems to Rover at Longbridge, and presumed to have supplied the tooling in use from the 1950's..The problem is for them to reproduce each character in circa 4mm height is iro £50, and needing probably 3 sets (A-Z +0-9 + special chars) in that size to enable triple number or letter usage in one strike, and then another size of say 4.5mm in a different font you will start to see the magnitude of the issue.
( we also direct people towards Tim at minimail..)
