Digging out 2 x Mini Cooper Barn Finds.

Post by mab01uk »

"Digging out 2 x Mini Cooper Barn Finds. Abandoned 1 owner cars. Will they run? In this barnfind episode Jonny Smith heads to an overgrown garden in Bedfordshire where the late owner had bought and driven two generations of Mini Cooper before mysteriously parking them up after 10 years of use. It takes a few hours just to clear the trees and bushes in front of the garage door!"

Some old BMW shite and a 90's thing.

I was expecting something interesting tbh.

Lovely to see a really well preserved 90's Mini. Wish I still had my J Reg SPi.

Back in the 1990's the 'Mini Cooper Register' had to have a membership vote on whether the controversial new 90's Rover Mini Coopers RSP/carb/SPi/MPi should be allowed to join the club or display at the annual Beaulieu show as new or almost new cars....this was after some members with Mk1/2/3 Coopers objected to what they termed as the 'plastic' Rover Mini Cooper, despite John Coopers involvement and approval. The objectors lost the vote and some left the MCR in disgust, hard to believe now.

The early R50 & R53 MINI Coopers were in reality much more a Rover engineered car than BMW liked to admit at the 2001 launch....
New MINI: more cool Britannia than BMW will admit?
"A Former Rover engineer is furious at BMW's claims that Rover had no involvement in the New R50/R53 MINI. It was, he claims, a very British affair!"

To be fair, I've been a bit harsh. The H plate Cooper looks to be worth having - the yellow one would make a car I guess.

The Cooper I just Pulled from a fenced area in Californa is closer to a barn find.
