Boot board finish

Post by Tedwong »

Dear all,
Can I ask how is the original boot board (grey/red for mk1) was finished on the underside edges?
Is it by adhesive or by many staples?

Thank you very much!
Ted

Mine was very original as I started to restore the car in 1983 or so, even down to the holes drilled through to hold the police Pye radio. It looked to have been glued down at the edges....... but then stapled too. With an over dose of staples around the rear rounded corners

I still have my original '64 1071 in reasonable nick, it was removed and stored after a twin tank was fitted. I'll get a pic today ;-)

As you can see with Dermot's pics, they were not finished that carefully underneath. I found an old grey one as well, so photographed them together so you can see ;-)

Wow, that's so great! Now its all clear how they made it, though a bit rough as usually the way they do!
Thank you so much Dermot and Andy, its so good to have you members in here with all the original bits and cars for reference!
Cheers
