Carb question.

Post by UHR850 »

What is the best carb. on a 998cc engine, there was a Hiff38 on it but it seems not to work propperly in the rives.

I have also a Hiff44 on the shelve, would this do the job aswell ?

We don't know exactly what 998 engine you have Kees, Was the HIF standard? So it's a difficult one to answer.

I alsays say revert to standard - then work forwards from there

It is a totally overhauled engine and almost standard, thanks for your advice.

Hello Kees ,

An HIF38 will work way better in a stock 998 than an HIF44,

Pain points on these carbs are the choke mechanism O-ring ( if collapsed the engine will always run rich ) and wear on the needle jet , would suggest you check both and try again .

Cheers

Well the hif38 didn't work properly so a Hs4 is now bolted on, fingers crossed.
