Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
I think that thread linked which originated from a post on TMF was a false alarm in the end?....the Mini Mag Facebook page seems to be alive and the July issue is advertised as on sale 26th May in the latest mag?
Modern MINI magazine closed last year (soon after be renamed 'Performance MINI mag' and since then some modern MINI content has been featured in the back pages section of Mini Magazine as the R50 & R53 MINI are now considered by Kelsey to be the entry level price point to the Mini 'scene' for younger enthusiasts...now early MINI selling prices are often cheaper than even 'basket case' classic Minis! All Modern MINI mag subscribers were transferred to Mini mag by Kelsey or offered a refund of any subs outstanding if preferred.
https://www.facebook.com/minimagazine/?locale=en_GB
I have subscriptions to both Miniworld and Mini Mag and there has been no mention of MM closing so far...
In other news Miniworld now has a new editor but long time editor Karen will be remaining as a regular contributor.

Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
The Van had a photo shoot in October for Mini magazine, we were told we would be contacted about the story. March came and I heard nothing, so messaged them, they claimed they had a lot of cars waiting to be featured and most wouldn’t be happening as they were winding down. Odd thing is they were still booking in new features and photoshoots… Abit cheeky if you ask me, as these freelance photographers won’t be getting paid… and the bloke that did ours came down from Glasgow, to Wiltshire!!!

Although it appears that no official announcement has been made, I have it on good authority that Costa's post above is correct.
Was always my car magazine of choice.

Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
I'm surprised really that 2 Mini magazines survived so long once they were both owned by the same publisher Kelsey. In more recent years it seemed Mini Mag went for the younger more extreme mods Mini enthusiasts while MiniWorld seemed to be aimed at the restored to factory spec and period mods enthusiast. There can't be many people left who subscribe to both so I'm guessing most Mini Mag subscribers will be automatically moved over to MiniWorld unless they want a refund of any remaining subs.
Back in 1991 the CCC publishers (Link House) did not think there would be enough content to fill a regular monthly magazine so called it a 'summer issue'.....I bought 3 copies of issue 1 at the time as I thought it would probably be a 1-off and become a collectors item!

Mini Magazine followed from A&S publishing in 1996....

I hope they move Tim Harber's (of Minimail) regular Mini mag column over to Miniworld?

Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
Have you read his Bio on Linkedin. Magazine title Editor positions? Personally I favour classic car meets rather than one make meets. I think Footman James have a good format with their breakfast meetings as their team members are really enthusiastic and are getting better at every meeting. 6th August at Chateau Impney?

Looks like Kelsey are having a re-organisation/sort out of magazines and editors....
The current editor of Mini Magazine is Daniel Bevis but on Linkedin he is now listed as editor of Fast Ford magazine since February 2023....

Dan has been editing both mags for a while now.

Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
Not a great fan of Dan's writing style but like the magazine it was clearly a 'style' aimed at appealing more to the younger generation of Mini enthusiasts who probably don't buy, subscribe or read paper magazines anymore. I was about to cancel my subscription to Mini Mag anyway as Miniworld had more of interest to me although as said I hope some regular columns like Tim Harber's move across from MM to MW.

It's the same old generic 'writing by numbers', sponsored by Wikipedia.
None of them have had an original idea in their lives.

Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
I'm going to defend Dan - he's following orders !
It wasn't his decision or choice to put Binis in the mag, but whoever got the editorship was going to be contractually obliged to do so and steer the tone/style in the direction the publishers want.

Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
I had no problem with MM devoting a few extra pages at the back of the mag to MINI's and understood the reasons for doing it, (I own an early R50 as a daily driver), it was more the fact that the first few paragraphs of every car featured were not really about the featured car although cleverly written and composed, plus you had to be below a certain age to be up to speed on what the connection was.....in the end I started reading most of those articles from half way down the page to cut to the chase....
I also understand why Kelsey tried to steer MM to the more extreme 'Fast Car/Air-ride' type of Minis and I assume appeal to younger enthusiasts than MW does but as they have probably now found (due to the proposed MM closure), most younger car enthusiasts have not grown up with the old habit of buying a monthly magazine.
It is a bit like the BBC constantly trying to increase the appeal of it radio and TV programmes to attract a younger audience....while failing to understand that most younger people no longer watch traditional 'linear' TV or listen to broadcast radio or would pay for a licence/tax to do so.....meanwhile the BBC alienates its loyal older generation of viewers/listeners who do still watch/listen and pay the licence fee!

Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
I used to buy bith mini magazines occasionally for the technical component. But sometimes it got a bit silly. Then, about 10 years ago I discovered The Mk1 Performance Forum. It was just up my street...... The more you put in, the more you get out of it. Been there ever since.
Give it a try........

Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
I agree Peter the Mk1 forum is just up my street too and yes the more you put in, the more you get out of it, however it is nice sometimes to sit down with a cup of tea/coffee and read an old school paper magazine rather than browse a laptop or a smartphone (at least if you are of a certain age!)...plus if I do spill my coffee I can just chuck the magazine in the bin/recycling at no great loss.Peter Laidler wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 8:29 pm I used to buy bith mini magazines occasionally for the technical component. Re: Mini Magazine has gone.
I have read both Mini magazines on and off over the years, problem for me, with any magazine is the articles get recycled every few years…..
Favourite magazine for me was CCC back in its heyday - because it was about modifying, it was less likely to repeat as well…
I cant imagine who they have been selling the mags to in recent years, I dont think either of my kids have ever purchased a magazine, full stop
