Just to give a balanced view .. 1st year Apprentice Fitter Turner starting work in 1966..my weeks wage was £3.17.6p .. i also did a second job 6 nights a week for another £1.10.0p .. similar wage to most youngsters back then... by 1969 with a bit of luck on piecework we could earn £40 per week .. then the bonus was £25 as Apprentice of the Year .. were in the 8-) money enough to buy the 997 Cooper.
