I am old enough to remember when 'Hot Wheels' first appeared at Christmas 1968 and made the 'Matchbox' range of cars look a bit boring in comparison...
Wizz-Wheels....... here's a name to conjure with. My friend's son, Matt Mingay an Aussie motor cycle stunt rider of some repute (mission impossible among others) was sponsored by Wizz Wheels for many years. He always had boxes of them to hand out to the kids at motor cycle races in Oz and elsewhere!!! GREAT bloke, so is dad, a pal from 7 RAR days.
Just put my order in. This kid is getting one for Xmas........

I think me and my brother got our first lot of orange track in '68 or '69. We used to clamp the starter to the dining table and race the cars into the lounge.
Matchbox soon had to update and started their Superfast range, and Corgi brought out their Rockets soon after.
Around 1970 I had the Corgi Rockets Grand Canyon set. The lap record for a car was 48 times round the circuit without crashing.
